Tangy Meatballs


  • Eggs
  • Cups quick-cooking or old fashioned oats
  • Can (12 ounces) evaporated milk
  • cup of chopped onion
  • teaspoons of salt

½  teaspoon of pepper

½  teaspoon garlic powder

  • 3 pounds of lean ground beef


  • 2 cups of ketchup

1 ½  cups packed brown sugar

½ cup chopped onion

1 to 2 teaspoons of liquid smoke

½  teaspoon of garlic powder

In a large bowl, beat eggs. Add oats, milk, onion, salt, pepper and garlic powder. Add beef and mix well. Shape into 1 ½ inch balls. Place in two 13 x9 inch pans. Bake uncovered in oven at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Remove from the oven and drain. Place all meatballs in one pan. In the other pan bring all sauce ingredients to a boil. Pour over the meatballs. Return to the oven and bake uncovered for 20 minutes or until meatballs are done. Yields 4 dozen.
